A large percentage of the world lives on only $2/ day. Not just for food, but for their entire existence. Producer Bethany Williams discusses her recent struggle during Lent to show her solidarity. Can woman live on beans and rice alone?
This episode brings up some interesting questions: how should we help those who are less fortunate than ourselves? How is it possible for folks from other societies to live on only two dollars a day? What does it mean to go hungry?
What are your thoughts about this podcast? We’d love for you to give your comments! What did you give up for Lent?

I have often thought about buying a run down an old house in Cleveland and let the homeless live in it.
I wouldn’t know where to start with that though. A friend of mine who used to be homeless suggested having the homeless people living in the house fix up the house (renovating as payment for rent) and then sell the house and buy another one and continue with the same idea.
Not sure how you would start something like that though.
In Cleveland they have very cheap houses….some for 1000-5000 dollars.
We’ve thought about buying a whole street. If you got a bunch of people together it would not be that much of a financial investment. But is that safe? Would people cry gentrification? Not sure.
We’re rather fond of the kind of ministry like what we covered in “The Boiler Room” (an earlier podcast). They not only give a place to live, but also provide for a community gathering place, food bank, and general resource. Just takes a BUNCH of dedicated volunteers. Great stuff, though! What are your thoughts?
